Riëtte Botha is a child evangelist and has been a children’s counsellor with Petra Institute since 2004.
She has been involved with children’s work since 1997 in South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Burundi, Worcester (YWAM), Kona, Hawaii, and Châtel, Switzerland. She completed a Masters degree in Psychology through Calvary University in 2010, with the focus on children.
Riëtte was invited to speak at three conferences about children and wrote articles for this purpose. In 2016, she presented her article titled, ‘Dancing with the Spirit: Sustaining joy in working with traumatised children’ hosted by Hospivision and UNISA (University of South Africa), with the conference title ‘Conference on Spirituality and Healthcare: Wholeness in Healthcare.’
The second speaking event was hosted by UNISA in 2017 at the Conference on Trauma and the Spirituality of Children and Youth, with the article theme: ‘Can people with only a basic training in counselling really help traumatised children?’
The third conference theme in 2022 was 'Exploring Fusions of Spirituality and Health'. A group from Petra Institute (Dr Viola Fransman, Rev. Dirk Coetsee, Lize Pieterse, Emily Dinhira and Riëtte Botha) did an impact study course with a project and used some of the material for the presentation 'Children and Maturity can be mentioned in the same sentence!'
